If you’ve ever curled up with a story that makes your heart race, your mind spin, and your curiosity come alive, I think you’ll find something intriguing in the Beyond the Veil series. These books are not paranormal mystery about shapeshifters, witches, and vampires—they are an exploration of what lies just out of sight, where the line between this world and the next begins to blur. Writing them felt like stepping through a shimmering curtain into a place where the ordinary rules no longer apply.

What Drew Me to Write the Beyond the Veil Suspense Series

I’m fascinated by the unseen—the subtle ways energy, intuition, and emotion influence our lives. As a forensic handwriting examiner, I’ve spent decades studying how something as seemingly simple as a person’s handwriting can reveal their personality, motives, and even hidden pain. The Beyond the Veil series is somewhat different from my Forensic Handwriting books. While handwriting expert Claudia Rose makes appearances in the BtV series, there’s not much handwriting analysis going on in these pages. Rather, the stories follow characters whose lives intersect with the paranormal in ways that challenge what they believe about love, loss, and the nature of reality.

Each book—What She Saw, Proof of Life, and The Last Door—explores life beyond the material world, through characters who are searching for truth, healing, and understanding in the face of the unexplainable.

Exploring the Paranormal Themes in the Beyond the Veil Novels

The phrase “beyond the veil” refers to that delicate boundary between the physical world and what lies beyond it. As I've learned through experience, there is no death; there is life after earth. That boundary becomes thin and shifting. The novels explore spirit communication, haunting, intuition, and the psychological impact of experiencing the unexplainable.

It's important to understand that I don't use the supernatural or paranormal for shock value—it’s not about spooky moments or jump scares—it’s woven into the characters’ emotional journeys—exposing fears, and illuminating what we most yearn for. You could say the paranormal is a character itself, influencing events and emotions in subtle, sometimes chilling ways.

Why Readers Connect with These Stories

Readers often tell me they're drawn to mysteries with a metaphysical edge for their blending of mystery, emotion, and spiritual intrigue with grounded, human stakes in mysteries that can’t be neatly explained. The suspense keeps the pages turning, but it’s the emotional and spiritual questions that tend to linger: What endures after death? How do we recognize genuine connection—on either side of the veil? And what does courage look like when the rules change?

Have you had an experience where the lights flickered when they shouldn't have? Or you

How to Immerse Yourself in the Experience

If you’re ready to step into the Beyond the Veil series, here are a few ways to deepen your reading experience:

  1. Create the right mood - Dim the lights, settle with a cozy blanket and some background music, and let the atmosphere draw you in.

  2. Stay curious: Explore some of the real-life phenomena or spiritual concepts that appear in the stories as they unfold. If the paranormal intrigues you, some resources are included in some of the books. There are many great books about the metaphysical and spirituality.

  3. Discuss with friends - Sharing theories and reactions can make the experience even richer. I've found that when I talk about the signs and experiences I've received from the spirit world, most people don't think I'm crazy, they tell me their own stories.

  4. Stay open-minded - The paranormal challenges our usual ways of thinking. Embrace the unknown and enjoy the ride.

So I invite you: Open the pages and see what secrets await beyond the veil. It’s a journey you won’t forget anytime soon. And who knows - you might just find yourself looking at the world a little differently afterward.

Happy reading, and may your curiosity always lead you to the most thrilling stories!

This is a fascinating introduction to your series, Sheila, and your themes come across clearly. I am intrigued about the supernatural world and what lies beyond what we know and what we can experience with our 5 earthly senses. This sounds like good reading to me.
